After VIA Academy’s inaugural summer 2020 program, we realized VIA Academy needed to continue in order to reach as many youth as possible. This partnership will allow VIA Academy to bring a series of incredible guest artists to guide Miami Music project’s students on their future paths with music.

In October, we will center around topics of health and wellness with guest artists Noa Kageyama and Nicole Newman. Noa will show students that performing doesn’t have to be such a random or nerve-raking experience while Nicole focuses on centering yourself using various styles of breathing techniques.

November is all about expanding your career pathways and understanding all the incredible things you can do with music to impact your community. Angelica Hairston (Harpist, Educator, Activist, and Founder/Executive Director of Challenge the Stats) shares her story and some techniques to guide students forward towards a meaningful career in music. Blake-Anthony Johnson (CEO of Chicago Sinfonietta) shares how he came to become the first African American CEO to guide a nationally renowned orchestra.

Continuing in December, VIA Academy will focus on the careers of two musicians at the top of their field and how they got there. We are so excited about continuing VIA Academy throughout the year and looking forward to our Summer 2021 program - stay tuned for more updates!
